Our registered nurses can provide support with a whole range of bathroom and continence training techniques, including:

  • Bladder retraining
  • Incontinence aids

  • Supra-pubic catheters
  • Urostomys and mitrofanoff systems
  • Frequent toileting programmes
  • Pelvic floor exercises

They can also help manage any medication regimes, monitoring of treatment programme and also by treating and managing urinary tract infections. Helping Hands’ registered nurses have experience in delivering specialist continence services for customers affected by a variety of conditions. We’ve helped those with acquired brain injuries, serious spinal injuries and dementia, with person-centred, tailored continence care programmes.

Bladder Management

The approach we take to continence nursing centres solely on the requirements of our customers. We recognise all our customers as individuals – no two people are going to have exactly the same needs. Circumstances vary significantly from person to person.

When you choose continence nursing-led care from Helping Hands, be it for yourself or a loved one, our registered nurses will assess your needs, and deliver a tailored continence care plan. We take existing lifestyle into account when delivering our bladder and bowel care services, and endeavour to help our customers to live a comfortable life.

The registered nurses who support our nursing-led continence support are employed directly by us – we don’t use agencies. Each one goes through a rigourous screening process enabling us to ensure that the help and support they deliver meets the standards we’ve become known for.

Catheter Care

Our carers also offer catheter care. A catheter is a tube that is inserted into the bladder, and allows urine to pass through into a drainage bag. They can be used on a short-term or long-term basis to help to empty the bladder in a number of circumstances.

We can help our customers to manage and cope with their condition by providing catheter care at home. The carers we employ have experience in delivering catheter care for people affected by many conditions. They’ve provided support for customers with urethral catheters and suprapubic catheters.

Bladder and Stoma Management

Urostomy care at home

If you have a urostomy and you require support, supervision or full assistance with the care of your urostomy we can do just that.

All our staff are trained to meet your individual needs and care. They have the ongoing support of the clinical team, this support includes one to one training and the regular recording and reviewing of your care needs.

Nephrostomy care

We recognise that caring for a nephrostomy can be a challenge, due to the nature of the nephrostomy it can potentially prove embarrassing if you have a family member or friend helping you with this. The position of the nephrostomy can at times mean that self-maintenance can be difficult.

Here at PRN Care we have caring, competent staff that will help you maintain a good quality of life by assisting and helping you with your nephrostomy. Our staff will be trained with your needs in mind, under the care of one of our clinical nurse specialists. The appointed clinical nurse will also be involved with your care on an ongoing basis, giving you something less to worry about.

Bowel Management

Our bowel management care covers all aspects of regular toileting regime starting with medication regime management, through to the use of specialist interventions including stoma, ileostomy and colostomy care where surgical intervention had taken place. We can support with digital stimulation, manual evacuation and peristeen for neurogenic dysfunction.

We can help our customers to manage and cope with their condition by providing stoma care at home. Our carers have extensive training and experience in delivering stoma care and have provided support for customers with a colostomy, stoma or ileostomy and are competent and comfortable performing these procedures.

We’re here seven days a week to talk through your home care needs and find the best option for you. Call 026 555 3555 or request a callback and we will call you.
